Our Senior Citizens ministry
We have an extensive program for the Senior Citizens in our community. From dedicated services to outreach lunches, we aim to welcome and encourage them into a lasting relationship with Christ.
Please see below for the usual who, what, when and where…
Nursing Home Services
Every Sunday afternoon from 2.30 – 3.15pm services are held in local nursing homes. The Senior Citizens’ Team plus members of the church visit a total of 6 nursing homes on a regular basis each month. We meet with the residents to enjoy a time of praising the Lord with choruses and hymns, followed by a gospel message or a testimony. Similar services also take place in 3 sheltered housing units throughout the month. This is followed by tea/coffee and a time of fellowship.
On Monday mornings from 11 – 12 noon a church service takes place in the NCOC Annexe in Glasgow Road, especially for Senior Citizens. The Lord’s Table is celebrated and an encouraging word is preached as we meet regularly together to celebrate with music and song the goodness of the Lord to us.
On Wednesday afternoons from 2 – 3.30pm Senior Citizens gather together for a Fellowship Hour where they enjoy a short Bible study sharing the love of God accompanied by a time of singing. Tea/ coffee, cakes and scones are served at the end of the meeting when they can relax and chat and encourage one another.
Monthly Outreach Lunches
Once a month Senior Citizens’ Lunches are served in the National Christian Outreach Centre in Riggs Road. About 100 attend on Tuesdays and 150 attend Wednesdays. Many local people attend these events and transport is provided for those who need help. Buses transport Senior Citizens from Kinross, Dunkeld, Dundee, Leslie, Thornton and Newburgh.
