The following is a summary of the fundamental beliefs upon which we build our faith.

We Believe in:

THE TRIUNE GOD

We believe in one God in three Persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is good, loving, and faithful. He is also just, righteous, and holy.

THE BIBLE

We believe the Bible is the true, infallible, and complete word of God, given to reveal Him to us, show us the way of salvation, and as the guiding authority in our lives.

CREATION AND THE FALL

We believe God created the first humans as good, in His image. They disobeyed Him, thus introducing sin, corruption, sickness, and death into the world. As a consequence, humanity was separated from God – His holiness could not be compromised by their iniquity.

HUMAN NATURE AND ACCOUNTABILITY

We believe every human being is born with that nature of sin. Every human is also accountable for every thought, word, and deed in their lives. Good works can never counteract the consequences of sin, and no amount of good deeds is sufficient to pay the penalty that sin deserves. God will righteously judge each person when their life ends.

THE PLAN OF REDEMPTION

We believe that God, because of His love for mankind, enacted His plan to redeem and reconcile people to Himself. This required a Saviour who was untainted by the corrupt human nature, while also representing fallen humanity.

JESUS CHRIST

We believe that Saviour is the Lord Jesus Christ – conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin, so without the sin nature. He lived a life of perfect righteousness, choosing to lay down His life as a substitutionary sacrifice for the sin of the world. God demonstrated that sacrifice had been accepted, in raising Jesus from the dead on the third day. The Lord Jesus ascended to the Father’s right hand, receiving back the authority and glory He had from eternity past. He will return to judge the living and the dead.

SALVATION

We believe salvation is entirely a gift of God’s undeserved grace, through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Believing in the Lord Jesus Christ is the only way to receive forgiveness and be brought into right relationship with God the Father.

PREDESTINATION AND GRACE

We believe it is God who predestines those who are His own. It is by His grace that He gives to a soul the gift of faith to believe and repent.

CHRISTIAN LIVING AND GROWTH

We believe after we are born again, we should continue to grow in that relationship with God throughout our lives, becoming more Christ-like as a result.

THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the Holy Spirit was given to work this in us. It is by the Holy Spirit that we are born again, and it is by the Spirit that we are progressively changed into Christ’s image. The Spirit also equips and empowers us to demonstrate the Kingdom of God in the world.

ORDINANCES

We believe the Lord Jesus gave us two ordinances to symbolize the complete provision of salvation that He made: baptism, as a one-time representation of being transferred from the old life to a new one in Him; and the Lord’s table – as a frequent reminder of what He accomplished for us through His death and resurrection, as well as keeping us mindful that He promised He would return to usher in His Kingdom in its fullness.

THE CHURCH

We believe God has established the Church of Jesus Christ as fundamental to His Kingdom purposes. Every believer has a part to play in a local church fellowship as representative of the body of Christ in that community. Every Christian has gifts and abilities that should be employed, both within the church and in the society where they live.

EVANGELISM

We believe as Jesus instructed His followers to preach the Gospel and make disciples, so we have a responsibility to do likewise – both as individual believers and as a part of the local church.

ESCHATOLOGY ( LAST THINGS )

We believe Christ will return for His own, to righteously judge all, and to establish His everlasting Kingdom. As well as those living at that time, the dead will also rise to face His judgment. Those who have rejected His offer of salvation will be condemned to eternal punishment. Those who have received Him will be accepted into eternal life and communion with God.
